Reduce, Reuse, + Recycled Materials

This year at Minni, we will launch new initiatives to eliminate waste. We will use recycled materials as much as possible for many of our projects. When that’s not possible, we will be conscious of using natural, sustainable and biodegradable materials.

We recently added a toy cart in our lounge with mostly wooden toys and puzzles from these great brands.

+ Big Future Toys

Community + Creativity

We will continue to support local artists in our gallery and hire local experts to teach special workshops in our studio. We will continue to offer free Creative Play during SoWa markets and free pop-up events with local retailers, restaurants and organizations.

Giving

We’re committed to reusing and repurposing and have chosen a local organization, Room to Grow to donate children (up to age 5T) items to find a new life. We have set up bins in our space to collect these items throughout the year.

How can you help?

Donate to our material drive. We can always incorporate these items into our projects: bottle caps, squeeze tops (yogurt or apple sauces), wine corks, ribbon, yarn, thread, beads and paper products (tissue, wrapping, colored).

If you’re like us and in a cleaning and reorganization mood. . .While cleaning out your closets, set aside any of the following items: kid’s clothing (up to 5T), shoes (newborn–10), toys, and books you no longer need, but doesn’t deserve to be in a landfill.

We will bring any new and like-new for children under the age of 5T to Room to Grow. See a list of their accepted items here.

We look forward to sustainably creating with you and your family in 2020!

Exhibition + Upcoming Workshop

Jenna Talbott

In August of 2018, after reading about the ‘unexplained mortality event’ affecting East Coast humpback whales, local artist and designer Jenna Talbott made her first permanent trash rainbow collage. Beach Trash Whale, crafted entirely from beach trash found on Wollaston Beach in Quincy, is glued to braced masonite painted with matte interior paint. Jenna now transforms household cleaner caps, straws and even plastic bags into bright works of art.
