Minni teaches kids great design.

We are professional artists, designers and educators. We have kids.

We wanted to teach our kids the beauty of art and design. We wanted to do this without getting paint and pencil all over our own walls.

So, we made Minni.

Now children ages 18 months to 10 years have an inspirational place to celebrate their open-ended, natural approach to invention, and supportive, trained educators to guide their technique and processes.

Minni is a space and a method.

Our programs are designed by experienced art educators and early childhood development specialists with a deep belief in process and thoughtful play. Our students are empowered to effectively communicate and explore their unique ideas through regular vocabulary, collaboration and structured class discussions. We steer clear of plastics and consciously create with natural and recycled materials. Off-site, we partner with educational institutions and resource groups to give broader accessibility to Minni’s creative classes.

OUR SPACE

South End

Minni opened its first location in the heart of the SoWa Art + Design district, a uniquely creative neighborhood within Boston’s South End. The space has several welcoming components:

Two studio spaces featuring art and design classes and workshops. There is a sink in our studio and we are fully outfitted with aprons; well-intentioned messes are easily combatted.
An environmentally conscious design, utilizing natural and recycled materials wherever possible.
An outdoor patio for select summer classes and The Minni Summer Program (weather-permitting)
A retail area showcasing a select group of fine and graphic art products.
At Minni we pride ourselves on inclusivity and accessibility. Our South End location is wheelchair accessible with handicap parking at SoWa parking lot and a permanent ramp to access the studio.

Beacon Hill

In 2022, Minni expanded to open its second location in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood!

An art and design studio space for children ages 18 months to 10 years old, including classes and our creative Minni Summer Program.
There is a sink in our studio and we are fully outfitted with aprons; well-intentioned messes are easily combatted.

A retail space featuring unique art supplies.

Minni was designed by founder Kelly Harris Smith in collaboration with her husband Chris Grimley, of local award-winning architects, OverUnder.

Minni studios are available to accommodate birthdays and private parties!
