Let’s get started!
Steps
1. We encourage you to show little artist(s) examples of finished window displays to foster creativity and brainstorm some styles or shapes together! This will help guide what shapes you make and colors you use.
2. Begin by carefully using scissors to cut out strips of paper from your recycled paper (could use newspaper here!) and some shapes from colored paper. In this example we used hearts, circles, and rectangles.
3. Next, help your little one to tape down the non sticky side of your contact paper to a flat surface. You want the sticky side facing up!
4. Invite your little one to think about the design they are creating. For our snowflake and heart design, we want to start with the long strips of paper or ribbon first to create the outline of the design before adding in the details. As you will notice, your paper will stick directly to the paper…no need for gluing!
5. Then start layering on your other shapes to create a truly unique display! Add as many layers as you can with different colors for a super vibrant display.
6. Once all your layers are done, you can carefully cut around the design or leave it as is. You will then stick the final design directly on to the window and watch as the sun brightens your display!
7. If you don’t want to stick directly on to your window, use a second sheet of contact paper to seal the design together. You can always hang it from a window and get the same feeling.
