Yarn Mobiles

Follow these simple steps to create a colorful mobile! This project is great for all ages and can be adapted to use a variety of art materials.

Materials

  • Carboard scraps cut into shapes

  • Assorted yarn

  • Scissors

  • tape

  • Hole puncher

  • Wooden dowel or chopstick

  • Optional: Beads

Steps

1. Choose 1 color of yarn and tape it to the shape. Wrap the yarn around and around until you are ready to switch colors!

2. Cut and tape down the end of the first color of yarn.

3. Repeat steps 1 + 2 with another color!

4. Make 3-5 shapes, then punch a hole in each one and tie on extra yarn to hang it up. Optional: string on some beads!

5. Tie the shapes to the wooden dowel or chopstick. Experiment with different lengths to balance the mobile.

6. Tie a piece of string each end of the dowel and hang it up!
