Recycled robots for little engineers + inventors!
Bleep! Bloop! Bleep! Get your gears turning for this robotic project. Using a range of recycled materials, young inventors can use building skills to invent their very own robot. Gather your hardware and equipment and let’s get making!
Materials
Box (preferably two of different sizes)
Paper tubes
Scissors
Glue or tape
Metallic paint or aluminum foil
Straws or pipe cleaners
Collage materials (paper, foam shapes, buttons, smaller pieces of cardboard) for eyes, mouth, and decoration
Let’s get started!
Steps
1. Find one or two boxes in your recycling bin. If you grab more than one box, make sure they are different sizes.
2. Go on a scavenger hunt for collage materials, paper tubes and straws or pipe cleaners.
3. Use glue or tape to adhere your boxes together. Add paper tubes or smaller boxes for arms and legs.
4. Use aluminum foil or metallic paint to cover the body of your robot.
5. Decorate with collage materials. Cut collage materials into shapes for eyes, mouths, buttons and more!
