DIY - 💐 Crepe Paper Flowers

Craft your own bouquet of crepe paper flowers!

What is better than a bouquet of flowers? How about ones that will last forever!

Decorate your space with these vibrant florals, or give them as a gift to mom for Mother’s Day! This project is best for kids 6+ and we highly encourage parental supervision whenever hot glue guns are involved.

We typically like to use crepe paper for the petals, though this time we also played around with glassine paper which is a bit thicker and holds its shape. It produced a wonderfully voluminous floral (striped paper flower), and would recommend using this paper if you’re looking to imitate big flowers - think peonies!

Follow along to try it out at home.

Materials:

  • Hot glue

  • Scissors

  • Wood dowels or straws

  • Green tape or green floral tape

  • Crepe paper

  • Tissue paper or glassine paper

Let’s get started!

Steps

1. Gather your supplies together! You’ll want them all in reach while you’re creating your flowers.

2. Fold paper in half and cut half petal shape. Unfold to reveal a symmetrical petal. Repeat until you have enough to make a full flower (have at least 6 petals).

3. Wrap stem (dowel or straw) in green tape or floral tape.

4. Attach a small crinkled ball of paper to top of stem with hot glue.

5. Attach petals one at a time to top of stem with hot glue, arranged around the center of the flower

Enjoy your craft time!
