Minni's Favorite Books - Summer Program Themes โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿงช๐ŸŽถ

Our favorite books inspired by our Summer Program themes!

This month, ahead of our Summer Program we wanted to share our favorite books that correspond to some of our most popular program themes that we offer! From Aquatic Artists to Playful Potions to Music Makers our Minni Summer Program offers ten individually themed weeks of summer programming for little artists ages 4โ€“10, beginning June 24 and running until August 30.

We are proud to provide curriculum for engaging and educational weekly programs this summer with children from the local community.

Each week is a different theme with rotating lessons, novel content and vocabulary. We also schedule field trips to select local galleries, businesses and studios, and offer outdoor art-making when the weather permits.

Du Iz Tak? by Carson Ellis

Animal Adventures ๐Ÿค Du Iz Tak?

With exquisitely detailed illustrations and tragicomic flair, readers are encouraged to imagine the dramatic possibilities that can be found in even the humblest backyard. A tiny shoot unfurls, two damselflies peer at it in wonder. When the plant grows taller and sprouts leaves, some young beetles arrive to gander, and soon--with the help of a pill bug--they wrangle a ladder and build a tree fort.

ADA Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beaty

Playful Potions is science made fun and accessible. Ada is an inquisitive second grader who was born to be a scientist. She possesses an unusual desire to question everything she encounters: a tick-tocking clock, a pointy-stemmed rose, the hairs in her dad's nose, and so much more. Ada has always been endlessly curious, and we foster the same curiosity in playful potions

The Lion and The Mouse by Jenny Broom

Explore the Magic of Mythology as you experience one of the best-loved fables of our time. With bright, graphic artwork, and ingenious die-cut holes that let you make the story happen with every turn of the page; release the mouse by lifting the lionโ€™s paw, then set the lion free by removing the hunterโ€™s net.

Iโ€™m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry

Calling all Aquatic Artists, letโ€™s explore the great deep blue and see what we can find! In this read aloud book, with bold and delightful collage art, we find a lovable squid whose spirit just cannot be crushed. When a giant squid takes inventory of all of the creatures in the ocean, he realizes that he's way bigger than most of them! Of course, there are bigger things lurking around . . . but maybe this giant squid with a giant touch of hubris doesn't really care?

One Sweet Song by Jyoti Rajan Gopal

For those who let the beat roll through them, and canโ€™t help but get moving when you hear music. This book is dedicated to our Music Makers, and is an ode to the power of music and community, this vibrantly illustrated picture book steps out on the balcony for a shared moment of spontaneous joy and celebration.
