Minni x Perry School
Minni x Perry School Partnership
We are about to wrap up this year’s 12-week program of weekly online art classes for 56 students in pre-K–5th grade. After switching online due to COVID and using a grant from the BSA, we were elated to be able to provide this free program to students and the school. The curriculum encourages imagination and introduces basic 2D art concepts, often only using paper and drawing utensils. Projects have included combining animals (bunny + chicken etc), various color games, and creating art inspired by feelings.
In 2019 we ran a 6-week pilot program focused on using various 2D art techniques to create artwork of shoes (painting, drawing, collage). The program ended with an exhibition installed at Perry. Over 125 students participated, so we installed over 800 works of art along the stairwell at Perry. The pilot program was for grades 1–5 and took place once a week during the school day. This was not an extracurricular activity and was incorporated into the school’s curriculum. Above images from our 2019 program.
The Minni Philosophy:
Everything we do will follow Minni’s overarching approach to invention and design, with lessons emphasizing a progression of skills and gently guiding natural exploration through technique and processes.
