We donut know what we would do without dads!

Celebrate Father’s Day with this simple sweet treat. This project is perfect for all ages!

 

Ingredients + Materials 

+ 1 cup of flour

+ ½ cup of salt 

+ ½ cup of water 

+ 1 bowl for mixing 

+ Spoon 

+ Tempera paint 

+ Additional materials to decorate your donut, such as pom poms, paper shapes and small pieces of yarn

Let’s get started! 

Steps

1. Combine the flour, salt and water in a bowl. Mix thoroughly to form a thick dough. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

2. To create a donut shape, roll the dough between your hands to form a smooth ball. Then, place the donut on a flat surface and push your thumb through the center to create a hole.

3. Bake your donut for about 2 hours at 250 degrees F and let cool. 

 

4. Now it’s time to frost your donut! Add some frosting with tempera or acrylic paint!

Tip: Mix white paint and a couple drops of colored paint to create a pastel frosting shade.

5. Decorate your donut with pom poms, paper shapes, small pieces of yarn and drizzles of glue. 

Tip: Create colorful glue by mixing paint and liquid glue together!
