Thanksgiving Craft
Pop the champagne and raise your glass to the perfect Thanksgiving family craft.
So you gathered around the table for the most anticipated meal of the year and you have officially commenced the fight against the annual post-meal food coma. Your little ones have different plans. Our solution? Save the forgotten wine corks that were tossed aside after your dinner toast and clear your table for the perfect Thanksgiving activity.
Project Materials
+ wine corks
+ tempera paint (acrylic works too!)
+ cups or any type of container for the paint
+ paint brushes
+ paper
+ acorn tops (optional)
+ black markers or sharpies
+ buttons, ribbon, pieces or yarn or anything in your junk drawer!
+ hot glue gun or regular Elmer’s glue
Let’s get started!
1. Cover your working surface with paper and invite your little one to start painting the corks to look like people! Acorns or any other materials can be painted as well.
Little ones 3 and under can use the corks as stamps on paper! Invite them to create their own pattern by changing the colors.
Pro Tip: Mix the colored tempera paint with a little squirt of white paint. This will make the paint bright and opaque! If your child is stamping, put the paint on a tray or a plate for easy access.
2. Add the details! Draw faces, glue buttons and complete each cork with a fluffy winter scarf.
Pro Tip: Avoid messes and use a Q-tip to gently apply glue.
