Minni x Duckling Day

Minni is excited to share that we will once again be participating in Duckling Day!

Hosted by The Friends of the Public Garden, in association with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department, Duckling Day is a beloved tradition of more than 30 years, celebrating the classic children's book, "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey. Every year, hundreds of children parade through Boston’s most picturesque parks, dressed like characters from the story led by the Harvard Marching Band.

Artist Spotlight: Nell Valle

Meet Nell Valle, a Chinese-American illustrator based in Boston. Nell specializes in the big and small: public art and comics. She is known for her cute characters, bright colors, and bold, fun lines. Nell graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in illustration and a minor in creative writing. She also has experience in art gallery installation and art instruction.

Artist Spotlight: AlexMakesArt

Meet Alexandra Adamo, aka Alex Makes Art, a mixed media artist and leader in creative experiences. Alex was 18th Recipient of the Lead Artist position at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's Community Art's Initiative for 2022-23. Alex's latest project, titled: "From Farm to Craft Table", invited children from twelve Boston-area community organizations to learn about the wonders of wool. You can visit her exhibit through October 22, 2023, in the Linde Family Wing!

Artist Spotlight: Rob Dunlavey

Meet Rob Dunlavey, an artist and children's book illustrator from Natick, MA. His most recent picture book is "Whale Fall" featuring Melissa Stewart's lyrical scientific description of ocean life after the death of a whale. Other books include: "In the Woods" with poems about New England animals by David Elliott and "Owl Sees Owl" featuring a reverso poem by Laura Godwin about a baby owl's first nighttime flight. Rob makes art every day and loves to share it with children and their caregivers.

Community Spotlight: JaVonica Latson

Meet @blackmominboston otherwise known as JaVonica! Minni was lucky enough to partner with JaVonica recently by hosting a collaborative Community Drop-In event at our South End studio to celebrate creativity, diversity and community engagement. But we wanted to dive a little deeper into all that JaVonica does for community, why she started her Instagram account, what drives hers, and more!

Minni Community Drop-In with Everyday Deeds to benefit Haley House

Join us for an extra special Community Drop-In with Everyday Deeds to benefit Haley House! Spread some holiday cheer by block printing festive gift wrap and bags to wrap wish list items for Haley House guests (and to bring home!). An alarming one-third of adults in Massachusetts face food insecurity and Haley House has been at the forefront of providing food, clothing and services for those in need in Boston.

Room to Grow’s Father’s Day Toy Drive

Celebrate Father’s Day by gifting a child with the power of play! As we know at Minni, play is an essential component of motor and social skills, as well as imagination and cognitive development. At Minni we work with amazing local organizations Room to Grow to collect donations year round, but now is the perfect time to donate!

From now til Father’s Day (June 19th) Room to Grow’s board will match every toy donation! That’s twice as many toys for growing families and forming minds. We could not be more proud to work with this amazing organization!

Minni Fundraiser for Room to Grow

Join us for a fundraiser supporting our partners at Room to Grow! This amazing organization offers structured coaching, material goods, and community connections to support new parents of low income families as they activate their natural strengths and expand their knowledge, so children thrive from the start. We’re proud to offer three ways to show your support!

Room to Grow at SoWa Market!

Visit SoWa’s Open Market on Sunday, July 25 (11am-3pm) and bring your new and gently used baby items to donate to Room to Grow. They'll be hosting a table to collect your high-quality clothing (sizes newborn-5T), books, toys, and more!

South End Stroll

Visit 20+ galleries inside of a 2 block radius of SOWA Boston on May 14–16 for this Spring’s South End Stroll! This pedestrian-only road is dreamy with blossoming trees and lined with local shops. SoWa Farmers Market is back!

The SoWa Farmers Market starts this weekend from 11am–3pm at 500 Harrison in the South End! The market will feature 60 vendors, with many cooking-related items, but other handmakers as well. The market is free to attend. You can see the full list of vendors here.

Minni x Perry School

We are about to wrap up this year’s 12-week program of weekly online art classes for 56 students in pre-K–5th grade. After switching online due to COVID and using a grant from the BSA, we were elated to be able to provide this free program to students and the school.

Everyone deserves creativity – Hurley School Virtual Workshop Fundraiser!

Calling all artists! We’ve partnered with the Hurley School to offer a virtual art workshop! Create a paper flower with us to celebrate Spring and the blooms of the season. No special art supplies needed. Participants can use a variety of materials found around the house – including newspaper, magazines, and paper.
