Kelly Harris Smith
Founder + Creative Director

Have you ever wondered what might happen if you combined wool felt, minimalist design, cold winters and small children? Kelly can answer that question for you. Trained as an architect at Northeastern University, she co-concepted and ran Knoll furniture’s FilzFelt brand for an extensive period before focusing independently on product and design work and the parenting of two preschoolers. Kelly created Minni to fill two distinct needs in her own life, both mirrored in families across her neighborhood and community: 1) the want of a dedicated space allowing for a deep dive into design projects with her kiddos; and 2) a regular, welcoming destination for simply getting out of the house

Rachel Armentano
Education Co-Director

Rachel is the trifecta of museum programming: she’s worked as an educator, visiting artist, and family programs facilitator at the ICA, the MFA, and the Danforth Museum. She’s also a top teacher, layering her current role as a middle and high school art teacher at Rocky Hill School in Rhode Island onto previous work with elementary and middle school aged students in Framingham Public Schools and the renowned Edward Brooke Charter School in Boston. Rachel holds a BA in Studio Art from Skidmore College, an MAT from Tufts University and the School of the MFA, and a degree in parenting from two young children who get to live a lucky life surrounded by art as part of their everyday.

Bio Photo Nora.jpg

Nora Elton
Education Co-Director

An undergraduate degree in Studio Arts from NYU. An MAT in art education from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Over six years of elementary art teaching experience and additional years of work as the Manager of Family Programs at the MFA. Add in two children of her own and the equation that is Nora swings to the perfect storm of programming expertise. Like Kelly, Nora is a fan of keeping the crayon off her own walls while still supporting the creative inclinations so natural to young children – hence her belief in Minni.
