Adults and little ones ages 2 and up are welcomed to GluedTogether, a workshop all about community, collaboration, and of course, collaging! Led by local artist and muralist Silvia López Chavez, caregivers and children will team up to create unique, collaborative collage pieces made with layered patterned paper, fabrics, buttons, and recycled + repurposed materials. Program participants will learn all the ways color, creativity, and teamwork give meaning to our lives.Participants are encouraged to bring along a special object from home to add to their masterpiece, such as a piece of yarn, a t-shirt remnant, or a found coin.
As each participant will bring home a masterpiece of their own, each family member must register separately.
Artist Silvia López Chavez believes in the power of the creative process as an agent for positive change. She enjoys making art with others, which has led her to collaborative works and public art commissions including murals with Google, Now and There, Punto Urban Art Museum, Northeastern University, and Barr Foundation. Her work has received recognition through grants and residencies including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston Children’s Museum, New England Foundation for the Arts, and Boston Children’s Hospital.
